Project Overview

Engineers Australia (EA) is the peak body for the engineering profession in Australia.  The Convention is its annual event that aims to bring together all areas of the engineering profession with a range of notable speakers from Australia and around the world to expose delegates to industry trends and leadership that will influence the future direction of engineering in Australia. The Convention website is a vital communication tool that EA uses to advertise the convention, the programs and speakers at the event as well as provide function for delegates to register to attend the programs.

Why was OPC chosen

OPC was chosen as it already has a long standing relationship with Engineers Australia for providing a high level of Web and IT support to service the internal IT infrastructure and their intranet and internet websites and applications. OPC’s Web Applications and Development Team were able to provide the necessary resources and skills to achieve the objectives of redeveloping the existing website so it could be launched in time with the announcement of the Convention event.

Project goals, requirements and outcome

The main goal of this project was to enhance the existing Convention website with a new design to improve the layout as well as incorporate responsive theming to optimise the website display on mobile and tablet devices. Additional modules that were compatible with the Drupal Content Management System were also configured to provide social media integration with Engineers Australia’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

OPC was provided with the designs to change the look and layout of the website and ensure that it achieved the responsive features the client requested. The redevelopment of the website was completed on site at the Engineers Australia office. It was done on time and on budget with a quick turnaround of 2 weeks.
