OPC is a collection centre for Operation Christmas Child which is an international project that delivers millions of Christmas gift-filled shoeboxes to children in desperate situations around the world.
OPC provides tickets for children to attend the event from local Special Education units, disability services, welfare organisations and from charities involved in our local region. Many of these children suffer a great deal of trauma or difficulties in their lives and they really appreciate a break from their daily routine and the chance to see such a spectacular international show.
OPC supports Circus Quirkus every year by providing tickets so that children who are not normally afforded the usual joys of childhood, such as those with disabilities, special needs or suffering from chronic and terminal illnesses, can enjoy a few hours of fun.
OPC is an annual sponsor of the Special Children’s Christmas Party. Its intent is to provide in excess of 1,600 children with a day they will never forget. The children may be terminally ill, intellectually impaired or physically impaired. Children arrive from all over the Canberra region to attend the event. This is the biggest party of its kind in the region and is an annual event
OPC supports Ronald McDonald House which provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill babies and children. We are a Room Partner and help out with ‘Meals From the Heart’ each year which involves our staff cooking for the families.
The Camp Quality esCarpade is a major annual fundraising event that raises awareness and much needed funds for children up to 13 years old and their families living with cancer. It is an outback adventure with cars that are 20+ years old travelling through regional towns along a 3,000+km route. Along the way we stop at many towns and schools to deliver Camp Quality’s message that ‘laughter is the best medicine’ in some fun and mischievous ways!
OPC is part of a team of Canberra cars known as the SuperHeroesACT. We have been participating in the esCarpade for over 6 years and last year helped raised a whopping $1,185,000 for this great cause.
